Sister M. Kenneth Wildt OSF
Sister M. Kenneth Wildt, O.S.F., 86, of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at 8:15 p.m. at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, Ill. Sister Kenneth, the former Laverne Wildt, was born March 22, 1930, in Washington, the daughter of Herman Wildt and wife Catherine, nee Zwicke. She entered the congregation Feb. 1, 1947, and professed her religious vows Oct. 4, 1949. Sister Kenneth graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in 1953 and received a BSN from Marillac College, St. Louis, in 1971. She served the community as an RN in HSHS hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin and spent 11 years on the Navajo reservations in Chinle and Page, Ariz. In 1993, Sister Kenneth joined the community in Highland, Ill., where she served as a home health aide and volunteer at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital. In 2014, Sister Kenneth returned to St. Francis Convent in Springfield, Ill., due to declining health. She is survived by two brothers, Donald Wildt and Paul Wildt, both of Washington; three sisters, Doris Skornia, Washington, Helen Hanneken and Carol Straatmann, both of Villa Ridge; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared her life for 69 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Wildt; one sister, Mildred Skouby; and one cousin, Sister Marie Neier, O.S.F. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at St. Francis Convent, 4849 Laverna Road, Springfield, Ill., with a wake service at 6 p.m. A Eucharistic celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. in St. Clare of Assisi Adoration Chapel at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, Ill., with the Rev. Steven Janoski officiating. Burial will be in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery, Springfield, Ill. Please visit to offer your condolences. The Franciscan Sisters and the family of Sr. M.
