LEVIN - SHIRLEY GINSBERG (BUBBLES) of Bethesda, Maryland, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, Becket, Massachusetts, and Sarasota, Florida, passed away on October 13, 2016 at the age of 91 surrounded by her family. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Frances Ginsberg. She is survived by her adoring children, Faye Levin and her husband Harvey, of Bethesda, Maryland, and Alan Levin and his wife Linda, of West Hartford, Connecticut. She was the beloved grandmother to Lexi, Adam, Emma, and Dana, and step-grandmother to Robin (Evan) Hammerman and Beth (Brian) Dubin, and great-grandmother to their beautiful children, Max, Sophie, Asher, and Andi. She was predeceased by her cherished and adoring husband of 63 years, Norman Lewis Levin, and by her brother, Jerome Ginsberg. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BS in Biology. A devoted wife and mother who lived life fully each and every day and whose greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, a gourmet cook and entertainer extraordinaire, a lover of the arts, and an active leader and volunteer with the Faculty Circle at Brooklyn College, at the Mote Marine Lab, and at Tanglewood Music Festival, Shirley's smile, sparkle, passion, wisdom, and ease with simply doing the right thing, will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb Street, NW, 20016. Internment will follow at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park, Clarksburg, Maryland. The family will receive friends and family at the home of Faye and Harvey Levin, on Sunday after 7 p.m. and on Monday after 2 p.m., and at the home of Alan and Linda Levin on Monday after 5 p.m. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Sunrise at Fox Hill as well as to JSSA Hospice.
