McCAUGHEY, CHARLES RAYMOND III Also known as Pappa Charlie, Pappa Pickles, The Popp-sta', Mickey. On October 3 Charles Raymond McCaughey III passed away at his home in Bluffton South Carolina by the side of his wife of almost 50 years, Karen Ann McCaughey. Charlie was born to Claire and Charles McCaughey on January 28, 1943 in Providence, Rhode Island and grew up in Johnston, where he settled with his wife and raised his family in a house filled with laughter, music, art and fun. Surviving Charlie, in addition to his wife are his daughters, Elizabeth Miller in Rhode Island, Kristen Wentworth and Melissa McKendry in Virginia as well as seven beloved grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Teddy and sister Sharon McCaughey. He will most be remembered as wonderful husband, father and grandfather, always laughing and smiling with his daughters and grandchildren. He was a talented artist and writer, contributing freelance articles about fishing and life to the magazine "My Father's Canoe". He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Providence, RI in 1988 and went on to be proprietor of Kool Break Vending and then Village Antiques in Scituate, RI before retiring and moving to South Carolina where he remained active in the community contributing articles to the Pelican Point Neighborhood Newsletter that shared his humorous outlook on life there. Services will be held on Monday, October 17 at 10:30 A.M. at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmons Rd Bluffton, SC 29910. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association at
