John C. McGill
John C. McGill, 89, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Clifton Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of fifty-eight years to Betty J. (Hart) McGill. John was born in Fall River the son of the late Charles and Adeline (Williams) McGill. He graduated from High School in Scotland. Mr. McGill served in the Royal Air force for a year and then served in the Untied States Air Force for twenty years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. John also worked as a baker for the former Fernandes Market in Somerset for over twenty years, retiring in 1990. Mr. McGill was a member of Church of Our Saviour in Somerset and was a member of the Choir. John was a Mason at the King Philip Lodge AF & AM in Fall River. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. Survivors besides his wife are two sons: John C. Jack McGill and his wife Nancy of Somerset; and Mark A. McGill and his wife Gail of Raynham; three granddaughters: Laura, Alyson and Ashley; a sister: Carolyn Dunnigan of Florida and a brother: Harold McGill of Ohio; along with several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alice Phillips and Merwyn McGill Calling Hours for Mr. McGill will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 10:30am to 12:30pm with a Funeral Service following at 12:30pm in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow with Military Honors in Mount Hope Cemetery Swansea.
