Juliette Irene Fortin 1921 - 2016 HALLOWELL - Juliette "Julie" Irene Fortin, 95, formerly of Green Street in Augusta, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Hillside Terrace with family by her side. She was born in Augusta on June 11, 1921, a daughter of the late George and Ida Mae (Dostie) Marchildon. Julie was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1940, and attended Gates Business College. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She was a long time employee at both Maine School Management Association and the Maine State Legislature - Education Committee. Julie enjoyed golfing, playing cards, reading and family gatherings. She delighted in watching tennis and golf, and cheering on the Patriots, the Celts, the Red Sox, and the Notre Dame football team. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Julie was predeceased by her husband, Brig. Gen. Raymond A. Fortin and a brother, Robert Marchildon. She is survived by two sons, Rev. John Raymond Fortin, O.S.B. of Manchester, NH and David E. Fortin and wife Tracye of Vassalboro; four daughters, Judith A. Thornton of Windsor, Susan P. Deschaine and husband Mike of Dresden, Donna J. Peters and husband Byron of Augusta and Mary E. Breen and husband Jim of Manchester, NH; a sister, Rita Chamberlain of Vassalboro; a brother, Donald Marchildon and wife Louise of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Hillside Terrace Assisted Living Facility, Dr. Ramon Cheleuitte and Beacon Hospice for their loving care. At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Western Ave., Manchester. Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
