In memory of
John H. Cazanis October 21, 1927 - October 10, 2016 Just shy of his 89th birthday, John Haralambos Cazanis passed away on October 10, 2016. Known for his laughter and non-stop energy, John truly lived the American dream. As a Greek immigrant, he strived to provide a better life for his family and was proud to become a citizen. Work, work and more work is how he lived with a few trips to the casino in between. John cherished his four grandchildren, taking them on countless walks for ice cream and adventures in his garden so they would understand and honor their roots. Born October 21, 1927 in the mountain village of Tourlada, he worked the land with his seven siblings and parents, Haralambos and Reveka Cazanis. At age 40, John left Tourlada with his wife, children, a few dollars and high hopes. His first job was at McDonald's where he worked for two decades, moving up to management. Each and every hard-earned dollar he happily gave away to family, friends and charity. John was incredibly generous and will be deeply missed by those who loved him. John is survived by his wife Georgia, three children and spouses, Andreas and Evelyn Cazanis, Pauline and Chris Gianulias, Amily and Cliff Peoples, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and three siblings along with many cousins, nieces and nephews in Greece. The Trisagion is 5pm on Sunday, October 16 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Sacramento. The funeral service is 10am Monday, October 17 at St. Katherine's in Elk Grove, luncheon immediately to follow. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Annunciation's building fund ( thebuildsac.org ). www.cvobituaries.com
