Gary Ray Phillips Gary Ray Phillips, 63, Akron, passed away on October 12, 2016 at Summa City Hospital. He respected the Lord and insisted that his children serve the Lord. He took Christ as his personal Savior hours before passing and is now rejoicing in Heaven. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Phillips; brothers, Jerry Phillips and Donald (Valerie) Phillips; son, Chris (Treena) Phillips; daughter, Stephanie (Robert) Cherok; and grandsons, Hayden and Mason Phillips. He is predeceased by his father, Donald R Phillips. Gary was born on July 1, 1953 in Akron, Ohio. He played football for the Wild Cats and graduated 1971 from Mogadore High School. He rode motorcycles as soon as he got his license. He started his family early and found great identity in his Fatherhood. He had an adventurous spirit, and built his first spec house at age 24. He traveled extensively, including Madeira and Lisbon Portugal, Aruba, the Caribbean islands, Hawaii, Mexico, and Canada. He also camped throughout many national parks like the Grand Canyon and Appalachian Trail. Gary worked in the pool industry for 40+ years. He was well liked as a charismatic salesman and was notorious for his pranks. He also worked hard in other industries, including residential and pool construction. He included his children and their friends on construction endeavors, laughing off problems as 'Phillips Bad Luck.' His cooking talents and experiments are not to be forgotten! He loved to have parties and BBQ's. Gary lived life big, worked hard and played hard. Kind and giving, he had a tender spot for animals and anyone who needed help. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held SATURDAY, Oct. 15, 11 a.m. at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Tr, Cuyahoga Falls 44221, where friends may call 10 a.m. until service time, Rev.
