Thomas Otto Duerwaechter
Duerwaechter, Thomas Otto Thomas Otto Duerwaechter, age 77, a resident of Sheboygan, died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 12, 2016 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. He was born on January 8, 1939, son of the late Roy & Alyce (Silbernagel) Duerrwaechter. Tom was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1956-1962 aboard the USS R.H. McCard. He enjoyed a career in manufacturing and quality control as well as being a specialist in IT support. Tom was a member of City Church in Sheboygan and the Civil Air Patrol. He loved to do volunteer work and was an avid sports fan for all Wisconsin sports. He enjoyed working with computers, collecting matchbox cars and spending time with his faithful furry companions, Bailey and Sam. Upon retirement, Tom cherished being with his family, enjoying special dinners & gatherings and was a special friend to all his grand-dogs. He was formerly married to Carol (Wagner) Leicht, mother of his four children. Survivors include his children: John (Debbie) Duerwaechter, Sheboygan, Rev. Judine (Dr. Jack Westfall) Duerwaechter, Sheboygan, Steve (Ann) Duerwaechter, Arlington, WI and Mark (Sheri) Duerwaechter, Sherwood. He is further survived by 6 grandchildren; Sonia (Samir) Tanna, Chicago, Anna Hopkins and special friend, Teo, Chicago, Emily (Baron) Hopkins-Gottsacker, Sheboygan, Amy Duerwaechter and special friend, Jack, Manitowoc, Amber Duerwaechter and fiance, Scott, Chicago, Adrea (Ryan) Hilbert, Fond du Lac, four step grandsons, Kyler, Brady, Quinn and Trenton of Arlington and twin great grandsons, Deven & Maxwell Tanna. Funeral services for Tom will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with Rev. Chuck Apple officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. A memorial as been established for City Church, Sheboygan. Tom's family would like to extend their thanks to Golden Living Facility and Shores of Sheboygan Assisted Living for the wonderful care he received.
