George J. Chinchar AGE: 88 • Metuchen George J. Chinchar, 88, of Metuchen died on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Perth Amboy, he had resided in Rahway before moving to Metuchen in 1975. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion St. Pete's Beach Post 305. He was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen, where he had been an Altar Boy. He was a graduate of St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick. George was also a member of The Metuchen Senior Citizens Club. He loved polka music and dancing. George had a multitude of friends. Before his retirement, he was a Block Operator with Pennsylvania Railroad and later with Amtrak. George was predeceased by his wife Alice (nee Marsh) of Rahway who died in 1989; two sons George, who died in 1976 and Albert, who died in 1982 and a sister Shirley Hughes. He is survived by a daughter Catherine Chinchar of Metuchen; and a brother Allan Hughes and his wife Bella of Aptos, Ca; and many nieces and nephews. Services will take place on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 9:45 AM from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen; followed by a 10:15 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral; interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, corner of Amboy Ave. and Eagle Ave., Perth Amboy. Visitation is Sunday 2-4 & 7-9. To send condolences please visit .
