In memory of
Goldkopf, Irene Irene Goldkopf, 86, died the morning of Wednesday October 12th as she had lived — smiling, peaceful and full of good faith. Since being born on April 27, 1930 to parents Matthew and Margaret Melfi, to know Irene was to love her, and she had the amazing ability of befriending anyone she came into even the most minimal contact with. Her true and kind spirit was impossible to ignore. Irene loved and was loved by Robert Goldkopf Sr. for over 65 years, who survives her. Together they shared a life full of travel, laughter, and great food surrounded by family. Irene is also survived by her sister Lucy Zangari and brother Vito Melfi; her beloved sisters-in-law Catharine Moore and Renee Parks; and her devoted children: Joseph, Robert II, Edward, Margaret Mary, Matthew, and Christopher; grandchildren: Carrie, Robert III, Jodi, Jessica, Caytlin, Jennifer, Jordyn, Shannon, Shaynah, Matthew, and Christopher; and great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Evelyn, and Graceyn. Her grand-dog Hercules was her most loyal and cherished companion. She loved to reminisce on her days as a successful VP in the banking industry, adored by all her employees. Irene's sweet tooth was legendary, her quick wit and gift of gab were admirable. She loved Italian cookies, reading, the New York Yankees, playing cards, and singing. The most important things in her life were her family and her faith, and she was proud to have served as an associate for the congregation of Notre Dame. Irene leaves behind a legacy of so much love and pure goodness. Her family will miss her manicotti and their earthly angel more than words can say. Calling hours are being held only for close friends and family. A Mass of Christian Burial is being held TODAY at 11 A.M. directly at Saint Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 736 Middle Turnpike East, Manchester, CT. Burial will be private at the request of her family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Irene's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
