Joseph J. Fortunato
Fortunato, Joseph J. Joseph J. Fortunato, long time resident of Yorktown Heights for 52 years, passed away October 12th, 2016. He was 93. Mr. Fortunato was born in the Bronx, NY to Giovanni and Caterina (Conforti) Fortunato. He graduated from Dewitt-Clinton High School in the Bronx. He went to Long Island University for two years and then was drafted into the army to serve in WWII. He was in the 5th infantry division and received a bronze star medal for valor. Upon completion of military service, he finished college under the GI bill and went to work for John Hancock Life Insurance. Prior to beginning a 28 year career at Exxon USA, Joseph met his wife Eleanor at Remington Rand and were happily married for 52 years until her passing in April of this year. He is survived by his son Robert and many great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 14 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Saturday at New St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown. Interment will follow to Rose Hills Memorial Park.
