Carolyn V. Russell
Carolyn V. Russell, 82, of Galion passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at home. Born October 10, 1934, in Kenton, she was the daughter of Charles and Arlene Cox. She married Raymond M. Russell on June 19, 1955, and he preceded her on June 8, 2014. She was a graduate of Galion High School and worked as a teller at the former Buckeye Bank in Galion and was secretary-treasurer of Galion Fire Appliance. Carolyn was a member of First United Church of Christ in Galion where she was a member of the Friendship Circle and Genesis Club and attended the Peace Lutheran Church Wednesday Morning Bible Study. She enjoyed doing word searches and previously did embroidery and cross stitching. Carolyn especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by sons Dennis (Carla) Russell of Galion and Greg (Karen) Russell of Galion; grandchildren Tony (Crystal) Russell of Crestline, Kaylee (Nick Wise) Russell of Galion and Tyson Russell of Galion; great-grandchildren Aydian Russell, Harmony Russell and Gavin Goldsmith and sisters Joann Norman of Dayton, Betty Crawford of Upper Sandusky, Roxie Fry of Mt. Gilead and Sonja (Jim) Oates of Kenton. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by step-mother Flossie Cox and brother Charles Cox, Jr. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 17 at First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. Darrin Harvey, Pastor James Oates and Rev. Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Galion. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation in care of the funeral home.
