In memory of
McKenzie, Jim passed away on October 8, 2016. He was 44. Jim was born on March 13, 1972 in Ann Arbor, MI to Dan and Mary Lou McKenzie. He grew up in West Windsor, NJ and is a graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School (South). He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters in Business Administration, both from the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Jim and his wife Mayu were married in 1998 and lived in Irvine with their two terrific sons. He worked at UCI for over 22 years and at the time of his death was the Assistant Dean for the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences. Jim was very active in both the UCI and local community and coached many little league teams over the years. He enjoyed music, playing guitar and baseball. He also loved the outdoors and travel with his friends and family, particularly to Crystal Cove and various national parks. Jim lived every day to its fullest, and his positive energy will be missed by all who knew him. Jim is survived by his wife, Mayu; sons, Jack and Jamie; his father, Dan; his brothers, Mike, David and Mark; sisters-in-law, Kim, Karri and Kathy; as well as nephews, Evan and Kellen, and nieces, Sophia, Jane Louise, and Caroline. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou (Dorr). A viewing will take place on October 16, 2016 from 2-4pm at the O'Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills. A celebration of Jim's life will take place Sunday October 16, 2016 beginning at 5:30 at the UCI University Club, 801 East Peltason Dr., Irvine CA, 92697 If you would like to share a fond memory or story about Jim with his wife Mayu that she can share with the boys in years to come, please feel free to do so.
