Wilma D. Wildhaber
Wilma D. Wildhaber 9/4/1924 - 9/6/2016 Wilma D. Wildhaber, age 92, a longtime resident of Thermaland (Lincoln, Calif.), passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Bullhead City, Ariz. She was born September 4, 1924, in Narcissa, Okla. After graduating from Fairland High School in Fairland, Okla. in 1942, she moved to Las Vegas, Nev. In 1943, she moved to Los Angeles to join her parents, Charles L. Darnell and Georgia L. Darnell, and her two brothers, Bill D. Darnell and Larry A. Darnell. Her family had moved to California so her father could work in the Long Beach Naval Ship Yards during WWII. During the war years, Wilma worked for an aircraft manufacturer and the Southern California Ration Board. Wilma worked for the Federal Civilian Service for 30 years and retired in 1982. During her last 22 years at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif., she received a Letter of Appreciation from the Assistant Secretary of Defense, and the Award for Significant Achievement and Certificate of Service from the Air Force. Wilma had been a member of the Lincoln Business and Professional Women's Club for over 19 years where she had held several offices, including the club presidency. She received the Lincoln's Club 1980 Women of Achievement Award for her promotion to personnel staffing specialist at McClellan Air Force Base. She was among the first women to work in such positions at the base. She was also an Eastern Star member. Wilma is survived by her step-daughter, Linda Wildhaber of Orangevale, Calif.; four step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; brother Larry of Schwenksville, Pa.; two nephews, Steve C. Darnell of San Antonio, Tex., and John K. Darnell of Michigan; and four nieces, Kelly D. Bencken of Sacramento, Calif., Tami L. Darnell of Apple Valley, Minn., Vicky D. Reily of Apple Valley, and Lisa A. Nero of Florida. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry J. Wildhaber; her parents, Charles and Georgia; and step-daughters, Harriett Jackson and Paula Bingston; two step grand-children and brother, Bill. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Lincoln Funeral Home, 406 H Street, Lincoln, Calif. with Pastor Jody Shorkey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to your favorite charity on Wilma's behalf.
