Douglas Ernest MIERL II
MIERL II, Douglas Ernest Douglas Ernest Mierl II, 75, passed away peacefully at home with his family on October 11, 2016. He was born on December 17, 1940. He was a family man who reveled in his 14 grandchildren. In 1960 he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Studtman. They resided in Austin where they had four children. Carolyn died of cancer in 1998, at a young age of 57. In 2001, Doug, married D'Maris Lumpkin Allen. Doug and D' spent their summers in Colorado and the rest of their time in Round Rock. Doug attended Concordia High School, the predecessor of Concordia College (now University) in Austin, and the University of Texas, graduating with degrees in Math and Engineering. His first job after UT was with Control Data Corporation as a systems engineer. From 1967 to 1993, Doug took the reigns of the family business, Studtman Photo Service. Doug coached his sons and hundreds of kids through Little League Baseball and youth basketball. Many of his teams claimed championships, and most of all he served as a mentor to young people through youth sports. He is predeceased by his parents, brother, Laurence, and first wife Carolyn. He is survived by his wife Dee; children, Steven and Cara Mierl (Hayden and Tanner), Stacey and Terry Hull (Tyler, Carter and Kalen), Shaun and Julie Mierl (Trevor and Trent), and Seth and Jennifer Mierl (Drew and Carson) all of Austin; Greg and Mariana Allen (Fair, Samantha, Valerie, and Nathan), Rebecca and David Paxton (Luke), Laura Allen; sisters and brothers in law, Gayle and Robert Francke, Kathy and Pete Mayo, and numerous special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 14, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas 78757.
