Kathryn Daniels "Kitty" Amos
Kathryn "Kitty" Daniels Amos COLUMBIA - Kathryn "Kitty" Daniels Amos, 81, of Columbia, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2016. She was born July 18, 1935, in Oak Park, Georgia, to the late James Walter and Eva Alice Moore Daniels. Kitty was a kind-hearted and gentle soul, a woman of great faith in Jesus, and she always radiated joy to everyone she encountered. Whenever you saw her she greeted you with a smile and a hug. She was a loving wife and mother, and the greatest Nana her grandchildren and great-grandchildren could ever ask for she will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts. In her younger years, Kitty enjoyed working with special needs children at Midlands Center in Columbia. She was an extraordinary homemaker and an amazing cook. Her homemade biscuits and gravy, potato salad, and southern sweet tea were some of the family favorites. She was a longtime member of Shandon Baptist Church where she attended the Joy Sunday School Class. Kitty is survived by her daughters, Sheree Amos Poole of Lexington, Pamela Amos Caraway (Michael) of Florida, and Tammie Amos Calcutt of Columbia; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Evelyn Jewel Garvin of Aiken, and Eva Edna Gibson of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill McDonald Amos; sisters, Mattie Wilma Williamson, Ruby Hazel Hall; and brothers, Henry Daniels, Jimmy Daniels, Charles Daniels and James W. Daniels, Jr. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia SC, 29206, with Rev. Dennis Banks and Rev. Jerry Long officiating. Interment will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia SC, 29229, following the funeral service.
