STEWART, Douglas Douglas Franklin Stewart was born in DeKalb County in 1929 to Lester Franklin and Martha Inez Bagwell Stewart and passed away on October 11, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Linda, Virginia, Marylou and Larry. He was living close to family in Loganville when he passed away. Douglas is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor McKelvey Stewart, children; Rick Franklin (Beth) Stewart, Leslie (Tommy) Brown, Rebecca Ann Stewart, Mark Douglas (Jenny) Stewart and Matthew David (Stephanie) Stewart, grandchildren; William (Jessica) Stewart and Brianna Stewart, Melissa Brown and Thomas (Brandi) Brown, Britt, Ray and McKelvey Stewart and Jacob, Harrison, Bennett and Hampton Stewart and his great grandchildren; Ryleigh Stewart and Levi and Noah Brown. He is also survived by siblings; Grace Clark, Carole (Gene) Kimbrell, Patricia (Bill) Horton, Jack (Ailene) Stewart, Joe (Lillie) Stewart and sister-in-law Bonnie Stewart, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Douglas was an Army veteran and served in Korea. In 1953 he married Eleanor McKelvey. He worked in residential and commercial construction. In 1970 he formed his business, General Installation Services, installing doors and hardware and did so for 35 years. After living in Atlanta and Lithonia, they moved to Sharpsburg where they lived for 27 years. In 1989, they and other parents worked to organize AABC Little League Baseball at Andrew Bailey Park. Douglas also coached baseball first in DeKalb County and then in Coweta County. He attended Line Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 10:00 am to 12:00pm at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home- Fairview Chapel in Stockbridge, Georgia. Graveside service will immediately follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Pastor Bob Carpenter will officiate. A reception will be held after the service. The family wishes to thank the staff at Legacy Court, Southern Plantation and Longleaf Hospice for the loving care he received. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations can be made in his memory to Walking With Orphans, his granddaughter Melissa's non-profit organization benefiting orphans in eastern Europe.
