In memory of
March 25, 1941 - October 8, 2016 OKLAHOMA CITY Carlos "Gingy" Melendez was born March 25, 1941 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He left this world unexpectedly on October 8, 2016. Carlos moved to New York City as a small child where he lived until he had a young family of his own. In the early 80's Carlos moved to Oklahoma with his wife Osmara and their two young children Robby and Jennie. Although his thick New York accent didn't leave and he remained an avid New York Yankee fan, he joked that he had become an "Okie." After arriving in Oklahoma, Carlos ran his own printing business: High Quality Labels. He was a punctual, hard worker and supported his family well throughout the years. Carlos and his wife Osmara recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Carlos is survived by his wife Osmara of the home; son Carlos of Thompson Station, TN; son Robert and wife Mandy, beloved grandkids Myles and Macartny of Piedmont, OK; daughter Jennie of Oklahoma City, OK; his sister Maria Dougherty of Long Island, New York; his brother Peter Melendez of Long Pond, Pennsylvania; and a host of other friends and family. Carlos lit up any room he entered. His wicked sense of humor and fierce love of his family were the two things that stood out about Carlos within a few minutes of meeting him. Carlos had a passion for live music and was a fixture at every Fossil and Sub Roza performance. A celebration of his life will take place at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church on Friday October 14th at 11 a.m.
