MGYSGT Ivor C. Peters Jr. (USMC Retired) 1926-2016 Age 90, of Canton, passed away Wednesday October 12, 2016 in Aultman Compassionate Care. He was born April 30, 1926 in Canton to the late Ivor C. Sr. and Violet (Biscoe) Peters. Ivor retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 30 years of service having served in WWII and as an instructor during the Korean War. He is also retired from Tyson Bearing and Nickels Bakery. He was a member of North Industry United Methodist Church, Marine Corps League where he was awarded the 2012 Distinguished Service Award, American Legion Post #44, Korean War Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans, Fleet Reserve Association, 2003 Veteran of the Year from the Greater Canton Veterans Council, 1984-1985 awarded the Outstanding Marine of the Year from the Marine Corps League McKinley Detachment #277, and was very active with the USMC Toys for Tots program. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, David Peters; two infant siblings. Ivor is survived by his wife, Marilyn J. (Stocker) to whom he was married 61 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Yoko Peters of San Diego, Calf.; one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Russell Luyster of N. Canton; one granddaughter and her spouse, Victoria and Daniel Sinclair of Painesville, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Abigail Sinclair of Painesville, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Janice Peters of N. Canton; one sister, Doris Daughenbaugh of Aiken, S.C.; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday October 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Industry United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeri K. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends will be received Friday 5-8 p.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services on Saturday at the church (10-11 a.m.).
