In memory of
Hazel Marie Catron
Hazel Marie Catron Hazel Marie Patterson Catron, daughter of the late Goldie Cross Patterson and Harry Patterson, was born on February 15, 1938 on the family farm near Iberia, Missouri. She graduated from Iberia high school in 1956, where she excelled at her studies and especially loved her business courses. At an early age, Hazel accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at Iberia Assembly of God church. Throughout her life, she was consistently involved in serving the church, including three pastorates in Humansville, Cave Springs and Springfield. She was an employee for 24 years of the General Council of the Assemblies of God in various departments at the national headquarters in Springfield, Missouri. Hazel's relationship with Jesus Christ was the central focus of her life that grounded her in the present, gave her hope for the future and spun the cords of love, integrity and unwavering faith that formed the fabric of her life. Hazel's other consuming passion was her family. In 1958, she was united in marriage to Edward Leroy Catron at the Patterson home. During her life, she was a fiercely devoted and loving mother, making holidays glorious, church attendance mandatory, and every single school event a priority. She also loved gardening, the St. Louis Cardinals and her wide circle of friends. Hazel died on Monday evening, October 10, 2016 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Goldie Patterson; two sisters, Anna May Strickland and Barbara Lee Moss; and three brothers, Floyd, James and Paul. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward Leroy Catron of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Sam Patterson and Linda of Greenwood Missouri; four children, Edda and Dan Prater of Ozark, Missouri, Peggy Catron-Franklin and Marvin Franklin of Farmington, Arkansas, Billy Catron and Sue of Peele, Arkansas, and James Catron and Tammy of Springfield, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. All who knew Hazel and loved her have been touched by her spirit and left in awe of her amazing strength. She has been a bright light in all our lives and will be missed in immeasurable ways. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with a visitation taking place at 12:00 PM prior to service time. Burial will be held after the service at Antioch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hazel Catron memorial account at the Assembly of God Credit Union, Springfield, MO.
