Thomas David McAnulty Brentwood, TN Age 79, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his residence. A native of Whiteville, Tennessee he was the son of the late James David McAnulty and the late Inez McAnulty Duncan. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Wilburn McAnulty; three children, Cynthia McAnulty Townes (Steve), Angela McAnulty Gregory (Kevin), and Ashley Clark McAnulty (Mary Catherine;) and grandson Spencer Christian Townes. He is also survived by his sisters; Linda McAnulty Meyer (Sylvan) and Alice Duncan Renovich (Bill); and brother-in-law, Dr. Frank Wilburn (Charlotte); and many nieces and nephews. Mr. McAnulty was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and received a Master of Science degree from Austin Peay State University. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he served in the United States Navy. In his professional career, Mr. McAnulty was responsible for providing financial advisory and investment banking services to entities throughout the State of Tennessee. He retired after 30 years of service with the University of Tennessee where he served as a Senior Financial Consultant to local governments. Mr. McAnulty was an early advocate for education and adequate funding of education in the state. He was an Investment Limited Partner at J.C. Bradford & Co.'s Municipal Finance Department. In July 2000, Mr. McAnulty joined Stephens Inc. and helped to establish the firm's Nashville office as Senior Vice President of the Public Finance Division. He served at Stephens until his retirement in 2013. He was also active in leadership roles in a number of local, community and non-profit organizations including being a long-time member of Brentwood United Methodist Church where he was active in the Encounter Sunday School class. Mr. McAnulty was highly regarded in his profession, community and a loving family member. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, infectious laugh and caring heart. Pallbearers will be Robert Andrews, Nick Balog, Sam Crewse, Mark Gorman, Jack Hall, Roger Hendry, Randall Matlock, Daniel Nolan, Guy Rudisill, and Doug Weiland. Memorial services will be held at Brentwood- Roesch-Patton Funeral Home at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, October 14, 2016. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from five to seven o'clock in the evening on Thursday, October 13, 2016 and from nine-thirty to ten-thirty on Friday morning immediately prior to the service.
