1952 ~ 2016 Kenneth Gene Butler, 64, of Cedar City, Utah passed away Oct. 5, 2016. Ken was born February 10, 1952 in Coalville, Utah to Alvin Dale and Lorna (Carpenter) Butler. He graduated from South Summit High School, Weber State, University of Maryland, St. Leo's College and the Air Force Academy. He received his Master's degree in Engineering. He joined the U.S. Air Force in January of 1974 and served for over 20 years before retiring in July of 1994. Ken married Pegi Sue Fitzgibbon on May 10, 1974 and they spent the first 20 years of their marriage in many states and countries while he served his country. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a Scout Master, in Bishoprics, on the High Council, was a Ward Mission leader and a Ward Clerk. He served a mission in Kentucky, Tennessee. He was a proud member of the Mason's and a member of FCCLA (a rotary club). Ken was an avid scuba diver and instructor. He loved to hunt and fish. He loved his horses and was sad when due to illness he had to let them go. He was a master gardener with an amazing green thumb. Ken is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pegi (Baby Bee), children: Derek (Kate) VanVoris, Shanan Ray Butler, Matthew (Helen) Butler, Jeanne (Nick) Hock, Amanda (Ben) Baldonado; 30 grandchildren: Ashlee, (Cameron) Turnbow, Austin, Alexander VanVoris, Matthew, Christopher, Stephen Zazueta-Butler, Kailey Butler, Boston and Mckentri Petersen, Megan and Madison Bingham, Dalton, Braydon, Catelynn Hock, Makayla, Miguel, Kaisyn, Hyrum, Ezra, Emma, Ellie Baldonado, Tina VanVoris and Brandon Johnson (Tamara and Fredrick Johnson), Brett VanVoris, Brighton and Kiya VanVoris and Cora Alder, 4 great-grandchildren: Lauren and Malia Turnbow, Conner Baca, Tobias Saavedra, Daughter in laws Maria Zazueta and Brittany Gulosh, siblings: Vera (Keith) Ritchie, Mike (Susie), Steve (Kris), Stan (Arlene), and Gary (Teresa) Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kellee VanVoris; grandson Aaron VanVoris and granddaughter Amberlee Butler. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the West Point Lakeside Stake Center, 855 North 4000 West, West Point, Utah; with a viewing prior from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A viewing will also be held on Friday, October 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LDS Church located at 3290 West 800 North, West Point, Utah. Interment, West Point Cemetery, 80 N. 4000 W. where Military Honors will be accorded.
