MAYFIELD Gladys Manney Mayfield: Born on March 11, 1918 in Allentown PA. Beloved wife and lifelong companion of Rev. Dr. L. H. Mayfield, who served as Chaplain of The Christ Hospital for over 35 years. Rev. Dr. Mayfield, along with her daughter Jean Mayfield Donohoo, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons Larry H. Mayfield and his wife Lezlie of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina; Geoffrey Mayfield and his wife Sandra of Pasadena, California; and son-in -law Bill Donohoo of Blue Jay, California. She is also survived by grandchildren Amanda, Betsy, Brittany, Christian, Jennifer, Joshua and Steven, and 11 great grandchildren. She and Rev. Mayfield were married over 70 years, in a marriage that was celebrated in an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer. Beside her own positions including accounting at two credit unions, she was the faithful and supportive spouse of L. H. through his church and Chaplaincy careers. Gladys was a Board Member of the Women's Club of Cincinnati, and active in the Methodist Women's Society of Christian Service and the literary Hawthorne Club. She and L. H. were active travelers, leading several group trips to Europe in the '70s and '80s, and in later years they were very involved in Deupree House and the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, where L. H. served as Minister of Visitation after his retirement as a Chaplain. Her life will be celebrated in a memorial service at the Hyde Park UMC, details of which will be released later. Memorial donations may be directed to Cincinnati Children's Heart Institute or the Hospice of Cincinnati.
