Stephen J. "Steve" Swiezynski Jr.
Stephen "Steve" J. Swiezynski Jr., 89, passed away October 10, 2016 at Exeter Hospital after a period of declining health. He was born November 15, 1926 in Exeter, NH, son of the late Stephen J. Swiezynski Sr. and Helen (Kucharski) Aniello. Steve grew up in Exeter and was a graduate of Exeter High School. He enlisted into the United States Army and served in the Army Air Corps in Italy during WWII. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was stationed on ship mainly in the Mediterranean. He retired after 23 years in the military from the United States Air Force in 1966, stationed in the US during the Vietnam War. Steve took great pride in his country and he treasured his years of service. After retiring from the service he ventured into several different career fields. He owned and operated the Newmarket Getty gas station for several years, worked as Security at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, and tried his luck at real estate. Steve found his home in Fremont, NH for the past 43 years. A Communicant of St. Michael Church in Exeter and a life member of the American Legion, he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching sports on television. Steve considered himself THE Patriots #1 fan. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Doris (Houde) Swiezynski, daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Michael Spencer, daughter and son-in-law, Stephenie and Richard Jordan, 4 grandchildren, Sebastian Spencer, Sophia Spencer, Phoebe Jordan and Theo Jordan. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Church, Exeter, NH. Burial with military honors will follow in the Exeter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Vincent de Paul, 53 Lincoln St., Exeter, NH 03833 or to the charity of one's choice.
