Miss Clara L. Benedict, 96, a resident of Hearthstone Retirement Home, Waynesboro, died Monday, April 2, 2012 in the retirement home. Born February 11, 1916 in Quincy Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Irvin P. and Minnie (Good) Benedict. Miss Benedict worked as a home nurse for various families in the area. She was a member of the Antietam Congregation, Old German Baptist Church, Waynesboro. She is survived by one sister, Alice I. Benedict of Waynesboro; one brother, O. Marion Benedict of Waynesboro; her sister in law, Nellie L. Benedict of Anderson, IN; and 15 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rhoda Benedict, Elva Benedict, and three brothers, Welty Benedict, Harlan Benedict, and Willis Benedict. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the Antietam Congregation, Old German Baptist Church, Waynesboro, with the home brethren officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, in the church. The family requests the omission of flowers. Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is assisting with the arrangements.
