Ellis King Sr.
On Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 1:45 p.m., the angels came to take Ellis home. Ellis King Sr. was born on October 15, 1925 in Twiggs County, Georgia to the late Stephen an Bessie King. Ellis accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age, at Mt. Holly Baptist Church Jeffersonville, GA. He later moved to Paterson, New Jersey in 1947. Ellis was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Annie Mae (Anderson) King on May 25, 1946. Ellis worked for several trucking companies until his retirement. Ellis was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Gadson L. Graham before his health began to fail. Ellis loved to watch car racing, and making people laugh. He had a big heart. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Annie King, sons, Joseph Ellis, Jr. and William (Sonny Boy) Ellis, parents, Stephen and Bessie King and sister, Hazel Hodges and Cletha Burnett. Ellis leaves to cherish his Precious memories: two loving daughters, Bessie "Bets" King Flood (Rev. Tony Flood) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Alice Shegog of Gainesville, GA; two sons, James King of Paterson, NJ and Stephen King of Paterson, NJ; one sister, Elmira Kennedy of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, James (Georgia) King of Passaic, NJ, Clarence (Kay) "Bobby" King of Las Vegas, Nevada and Charlie King of Cincinnati, Ohio; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
