Raymond Daniels
MURPHYSBORO -- Raymond O. Daniels, 89, passed away at 10:35 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Raymond was born Feb. 4, 1925, in West Frankfort, to the Rev. James B. Daniels and Sarah "Edna" Daniels. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was in the 4th Marine Division and saw action on the three islands of Saipan, Tinian and Roi Namur. Raymond worked as a machinist at the Penn Aluminum from 1964 to 1987. Mr. Daniels was a member of the West Frankfort Heights Church of God in West Frankfort. He enjoyed bowling with his brothers on bowling leagues and he was a very good ping pong player. Raymond married Frances E. (Hesik) Daniels on Oct. 23, 1950, in Chicago, and she preceded him in death Nov. 25, 2001. He is survived by one son and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Patti Daniels of Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and David Entrekin of Somersworth, N.H.; six grandchildren, Derek Daniels and his wife, Debby, Daniels of Chicago, Kyle Daniels and his wife, Kendra, Daniels of Springfield, Ryan Daniels and his wife, Jen, Daniels of Vernon Hills, Todd Daniels and his wife, Cindy, Daniels of Springfield, Erin Regan and her husband, Joe, Regan of Somersworth, N.H., and Adam Entrekin of Washington, D.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Ty, Grace, Abby, Josie, Mary, Isabel and Cara Daniels; four brothers, Claude "Bud" Daniels of Murphysboro, Ken Daniels and his wife, Nancy, Daniels and the Rev. Joe Daniels and his wife, Doris, Daniels, all of West Frankfort, and Don Daniels and his wife, Linda, Daniels of De Soto; one sister, Dorothy Bean of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Sophia Louise Daniels; one brother, Bob Daniels and one brother in infancy, Ralph Daniels; and two sisters, Mae Fiorenzi and Beulah Flynn and his parents. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Daniels officiating. Burial will be in De Soto Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. For more information, visit .
