Linda Buchanan
Linda Buchanan Rockville - BUCHANAN, Linda Carol Workman, was born December 30, 1952 and lost her courageous, selfless, seven-year battle with cancer on Sunday, July 21, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Jean Workman; and sister, Patricia Beale. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jim Buchanan; and two sons, Matt and Will. She is also survived by family with whom she was very close, sisters, Evelyn Crawford and her husband, Bob, Diane Wood and her husband, Steve; and younger brother, Sam Workman and his wife, Lynda. A special thanks goes to all of them for their loving care when it was most needed. She would also want to remember close friends, Cathy Stone and Dale Lawton. Linda graduated from VCU with honors and started her career as an educator, first in Virginia Beach, then in Richmond at Stoney Point Academy, and eventually at Hanover Academy. She left teaching to go into finance, working as a commodities trader with Wheat First Securities, leaving there to go with Sovran Bank. She decided the finance world was too demanding to raise her family and she became an office manager at Old Dominion Cabinet Company until recently. Linda was selfless to a fault, always putting her family and faith before all else. A special thanks for their kind help goes to Til and Ginny Buchanan and all of our other friends. Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 8 N. Laurel St., Richmond. A reception will immediately follow the service in the church parish hall. Interment will be private at the Church of Our Saviour, Montpelier. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation, in Linda's name, to New Life for Youth, 1500 Log Cabin Rd., Beaverdam, Va. 23015.
