Boyd Gail Harris Jr. Boyd Gail Harris Jr., age 81, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at his home in Gainesville, Va. Mr. Harris was born on Oct. 15, 1931, in Abingdon, Va., to the late Boyd G. Harris Sr., and Mary Lorraine (Miller) Harris. He worked for Nationwide Insurance for 34 years retiring as a Regional Sales Manager; before his Insurance career Gail was a Major League Baseball Player who played for the New York Giants and the Detroit Tigers. He is predeceased by his parents and his wife Evelyn Bess Harris. Survivors include his three children, Becky Harris Sellers of Roanoke, Va., Kathy Lavender and husband Gary of Norfolk, Va., and Mark Harris and wife Vicki of Gainesville; one sister, Lillian Galliher and husband Sam of Lebanon, Va.; and two grandchildren, Rachel Harris of Washington, D.C. and Chris Harris of Gainesville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at 3 p.m., at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Va., with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Capital Caring Hospice, 10530 Linden Lake Plaza, Suite 200, Manassas, VA 20109, in loving memory of Boyd Gail Harris.
