TIFTON – Dorothy Mae Faulkner Sirmans, 81, of Tifton, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday Nov. 13, 2008 at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Fred M. Evers officiating. Entombment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.Deacons of Northside Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and the Senior Adult Sunday School Department of Northside Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.Mrs. Sirmans was born July 24, 1927, in Pearson to the late Reason Faulkner and Mamie McNeal Faulkner. She was sister to the late Louise Cribbs, Waldo Faulkner, and Edward Faulkner.Mrs. Sirmans was a member of Northside Baptist Church for 50 years where she served in the nursery for over 35 years. She was a much beloved local icon in downtown Tifton where she worked for three different dress shops for a total of almost 40 years. Mrs. Sirmans loved to bowl and she loved children and also loved to travel.Mrs. Sirmans is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, George W. Sirmans and two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jimmy D. and Bonnie Sirmans of Birmingham, Ala., and Ronnie E. and Louise Sirmans of Jacksonville, N.C.; a brother, Woodrow Faulkner of Douglas; a sister, Imogene Smith of Douglas; her grandchildren, Mandy and Scott Hughes, Cade Sirmans, Michele and John Fenstermacher, and Michael and Nicki Sirmans; and her great-grandchildren, Ian Sirmans, Timothy Sirmans, Noah Sirmans, Emma Hutner, Elijah Hughes, and Victoria Fenstermacher.The family is thankful for all the prayer and support through this time and would like to offer a special thank you to the staff and residents of Bradley Place and to Hospice of Tift Area, for their love, care, and concern.
