CLYDE LEROY BRACKEN
1925 – 2018
Clyde Leroy Bracken age 92 of Bellevue, NE formerly of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away on Monday, May 1, 2018 at his residence.
He was born on August 21, 1925 to Clem Patterson and Julia Ethel (Roelofzs) Bracken in Edna, KS. Clyde was raised and schooled in Edna. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for three years during WWII. After serving his country Clyde returned to Kansas for a while, until he moved to Wyoming to work with his brothers. Then he came to Nebraska where he was working on the Diversion Dam near Guide Rock, NE, when he met Helen Marie Nass. Clyde and Helen were later married on May 31, 1950 in Nelson, NE. Clyde worked as a milkman in Red Cloud, NE until he started working on his brother's farm in Riverton, WY. Clyde then worked as an iron worker until he retired in 1986. Clyde had worked on the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo, OPPD plant in Nebraska City, and the Ash Grove Cement Plant to just name a few. Clyde and Helen made their home in Council Bluffs, IA and in 1956 they moved Plattsmouth where they lived until they moved to Bellevue in 2016. In his free time Clyde enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, being outside, fishing, and bird watching.
Clyde was a member of First Lutheran Church and Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 both of Plattsmouth.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Helen Bracken of Bellevue, NE; two daughters: Vicki Bracken of Plattsmouth, NE; Lisa Poole and husband Greg of Plattsmouth, NE; four grandchildren: Heather Dosseh and husband Edem, Christina Hill, Gabrielle Fuentes, and Anthony Poole; five great grandchildren: Desiree Davis, Dylan Hill, Malaki Fuentes, Adleigh Dosseh, and Mackenzie Dosseh; brother: Melvin Bracken and wife Nancy of Fremont, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clem and Ethel Bracken, son: Dana Bracken, three brothers: Henry, Ray, and Don Bracken, and his four sisters: Marie Blair, Amy Morgan, Ermie McCartney, and Louise Hugo.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 5, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Lloyd Stuhr officiating, Melvin Bracken as eulogist, and Marsha Fleming as organist.
Military Rites will be conducted by Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth.
His final resting place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE.
The Family suggests Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or First Lutheran Church.
