Katherine Cooper Thorpe
Katherine Ann Cooper, known to everyone as Kathy, was born on May 14, 1961 to the late Emanuel Cooper, Jr., and Doris Cooper in Silver Spring, Maryland. She graduated from Northwood High School in Wheaton, Maryland in June 1979. She later married Sylvester Thorpe, Jr.
Kathy was employed by Montgomery County Public Schools as a Bus Driver and Bus Attendant for Special Education Students for many years. In her leisure, she enjoyed watching old Westerns and Godfather movies. Her hobbies included crochet, dominos, and playing. cards. Her favorite was Spades.
Kathy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated mother. She was passionate about helping others in need. She often fed neighborhood children. One of her favorite quotes was, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, God can move mountains." Kathy enjoyed going to church and she loved the church Christmas plays. Kathy enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the Canton Spirituals.
Kathy departed this life on August 8, 2017. Kathy leaves to cherish her memory two children, Katrina Drnec and Sylvester Thorpe III, grandchildren; Keyarah Carroll, Antonio Butler, Jr., Nevaeh Butler, Isaiah Butler, Isaiah Thorpe, Ty'one Thorpe, Zyaire Thorpe, Luhve Drnec, and ZahKai Thorpe, one brother Nathan Cooper, Sr., one sister, Laura Ann Cooper, one sister-in-law, Yvette Cooper, one son-in-law, David Dmec; nieces and nephews; Terrell Jones, Nathan Cooper, Jr., Lynnise Cooper; one great niece, Kailynn Ellis, aunts and uncles: Sarah Howard, Clifton Lancaster, Jr., Delores Dickens (Kaney Dickens), Carolyn Gatling, Mary Hinton and Dorothy Cooper, and a host of cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
