Nancy Carolyn Phillips
Nancy Carolyn Phillips, age 77, of Russellville died peacefully, with her family by her side on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Legacy Heights Nursing Center under the care of hospice. She was born August 23, 1939, in North Little Rock to Corthel Christopher and Martha Lois (Evans) Morris.
She graduated from Old Main High School in North Little Rock in 1957, and from Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in May 1960 as a Registered Nurse. She married Joe W. Phillips on March 12, 1960, two months before her graduation. In 1962, Nancy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and was a committed church worker and attendee as long as her health permitted. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Russellville for 49 years, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, worked in vacation bible school, kept the nursery, and was camp nurse at Baptist Vista for several years. She loved her Lord, her family, and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by Joe, her husband of 57 years; two daughters, Linda Phillips of Russellville and Lesley Reed and her husband, Grady of North Little Rock; a brother-in-law, Carl Phillips of Osceola; four grandsons, Chris Reed, Corey Reed, Daniel Phillips and Jonathan Phillips and his wife, Blake, and their son, Geurin; three cousins, two nieces, and one nephew.
The funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Shinn Chapel officiated by the Rev. James Bryant and the Rev. Al Ray Taylor. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5:00-6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Grady Reed, Chris Reed, Corey Reed, Jonathan Phillips, and Daniel Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nancy's memory to Second Baptist Church, 1100 North Frankfort, Russellville, Arkansas 72801; The Salvation Army, 1004 Weir Road, Russellville, Arkansas 72802; or to the charity of choice.
The family would like to express their most sincere heartfelt thanks to the staff of Legacy Heights Nursing Center and Hospice of Conway for the loving care they provided to Nancy during her stay there.
