In Loving Memory of Frances Elizabeth (Reed) Ryan Williams
Frances Elizabeth Reed Ryan Williams died Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, after an extended illness. She was born in the Flat Creek Community of Williamson County, Tennessee, on April 3, 1930. She was the youngest of 10 children born to her parents, Mary Elizabeth Graham Reed of Bedford County and John Core Reed of Williamson County, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 32 years, Charles Peyton (C.P.) Ryan of Williamson County, Tennessee; their son, Charles Michael Ryan of Gadsden; her late husband of seven years, Roy Kenner Williams of Gadsden; her parents; her five brothers; and her four sisters. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Over her early married life, she and C.P. lived in Tennessee and Georgia, moving to Gadsden in 1968. She was active in several Baptist and United Methodist churches through the years, including Central United Methodist in Gadsden and Grace United Methodist in Auburn. She is survived by two daughters, Kay King (Greg Fleming) of Southside and Barbara (Danny) Doster of Rainbow City, and one son, Jim (Janice) Ryan of Auburn. She is survived by three granddaughters, Amanda (Mark) Higginbotham of Auburn, Erin (Ken) Carden of Pelham, and Mary Ryan of Dallas, Texas. Her two grandsons are Daniel Doster of Rainbow City and Chase (Rachel) Ryan of Houston, Texas. She is survived by five great-grandsons, Jackson Tumlin, John Doster, Brooks Higginbotham, Burke Higginbotham, and Bennett Higginbotham; and two great-granddaughters, Anna Carden and Juliet Carden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Auburn or Christ Central Church of Gadsden. Graveside service will be at noon Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier Butler Funeral Home is directing.
