Elnita Mae Tackett
ODESSA - Elnita Mae Tackett, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2019 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She demonstrated strength and grace. Elnita was born May 11,1931 in Crews, Texas to Lonnie and Willie Faubion. She grew up in Ballinger, Texas in a large and loving family that included four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her dear sister, Nelda Thomason. Elnita attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas where she received her elementary teaching degree. Elnita met her beloved husband, Andrew Terry Tackett, while teaching in Fort Worth. They continued teaching for many years with Ector County Schools in Odessa, Texas. Together they raised five daughters: Andrea Spartz, Vanessa Sanyang, Erica Khorsandi, Jennifer Patterson, and Sabrina Addington. They also had eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service for Elnita will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Odessa, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Home Hospice of West Texas, Elnita Nursery and Day Care Center in The Gambia, West Africa at https://www.gofundme.com/48yqu7ds , or a charity of your choice. A celebration of life service will be held in May in Ballinger, Texas.
