Edwin Aloysius Malone, 93 'His greatest joy' was spending time with his family Edwin Aloysius Malone, 93, died peacefully on Jan. 30, 2020, at home with his loving wife of 72 years, Theresa Malone (Howell) by his side. Born on Staten Island and raised in Stapleton, he attended St. Peter's Academy. At 17, he joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Independence in the Pacific. Post-war, Ed found his niche with a new oil and heating company where he worked until retirement in 1987 and moved to Saratoga Lake. He continued to work as a security guard for the NYRA/Saratoga. Since 2006, he was employed by Mary Lou Whitney as Gatekeeper at Cady Hill Estate. He was a 31-year member of the Saratoga-Wilton Elks. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; son, Vincent Malone; daughter, Dorothy Winsten (Malone); grandchildren, Justin Malone, Ian Malone, Vanessa Carretta (Stuart), Jesse Stuart, and Hannah Winsten, and his great-grandchildren, Dashiell Malone, Nicholas and Daniel Carretta, and Sonita Stuart. A memorial will be held at the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Club on April 18, 2020, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home.
