Douglas Furlong Westfield husband and father, Prudential employee Douglas Furlong, 62, passed away suddenly on June 29, 2017, at home. Friends and family are invited to visit Sunday, July 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West in Cranford, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Helen's Church in Westfield, N.J. Entombment is in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Doug was born in Union, N.J., and married his wife, Maureen (Gavin), in 1984. They moved to Westfield in 1995 with their three children, Kelly, Alex and Kevin and spent summers in Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J., where he loved to go to the beach, go for morning runs, and read. Doug graduated from Bucknell University, received his master's degree from Seton Hall, and his law degree from Rutgers Law School. Doug was a certified public accountant and certified financial planner, and was employed by Prudential Insurance Company. He was predeceased by his parents, Helene and Charles Furlong, and his brother-in-law, George Ring. Surviving are his wife, Maureen; their children, Kelly, Alex and Kevin; his sister, Dee; his brother, Chuck and his wife, Brenda; his father-in-law, Jack, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack, Liz, Robert and Susan.
