Donald M. "Michael" Steele
July 10, 2010 Donald M. "Michael" Steele, 49, of West Hartford Street, Ashley, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was born in Wilkes-Barre on August 28, 1960, a son of the late Donald L. and Arlene M. Drozda Steele. He was the director of the P.E.O.P.L.E. Association, an Internet social networking company. He also worked as a popular disc jockey and did voice-overs for various commercial products. He was a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School and Luzerne County Community College, as well as a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mike is survived by sisters Dr. Marla Iverson and her husband, Francis, Rochester, N.Y., and Rhonda Harris and her husband, Keith, Lexington, Ky.; as well as several aunts and cousins. The family would like to acknowledge good friends Donna and Danielle Houck, and Dr. Gary Weissberger, who bravely assisted Mike in his final hours. Thanks also to the Ashley Ambulance Crew for their wonderful work. Family and friends are invited to calling hours this Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. There will be a Celebration of Life service, officiated by the Rev. Ann Marie Acacio, from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made in Mike's name to the St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church Food Pantry, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley, PA 18706.
