Delbert "Izzy" Israel
Delbert "Izzy" N. Israel, 82, went to be with Jesus on Thursday (Aug. 23, 2018). He was born on Feb. 27, 1936, in Cimarron, the son of Porter T. and Ella Lucille (Prescott). Delbert graduated from Ensign High School in 1954. He then spent a one and a half years attending Dodge City Community College. On Jan. 21, 1956, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged Jan. 20, 1960 in Alexandria, Lousiana. On March 2, 1963, Delbert Neal and Bonnie Lucile were united in marriage in Denver. They were married 55 years. Delbert was a Fire Captain for the city of Hutchinson for 26 years before retiring in 1996. He worked as an aircraft mechanic both while in the Air Force and after his discharge. Following retirement, he drove the school bus for the Nickerson School District. He was a man of service. Delbert had a huge heart and would help anyone who was in need. His number one love was spending time with his family that he loved dearly. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, exercising or riding his motorcycle. Preceding him in death are his parents; three brothers, Richard Gale, LeRoyce DeWayne and Carroll Glee Israel; sister, Donetta Cook; and two nephews, Mark Israel and Aaron Cook. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Lucile of Buhler; two daughters and their familes, Susan Marie Grivna and husband Shane of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and their children: Alexandria and husband Blane Davis and Nathan Grivna, and Stephanie Lynn and husband Todd Barnes, and daughter, Morgan, of Newton; sister, Loretta and Fred Kuestersteffen of Newton; brother, Nyland "Butch" and wife Mary of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2018) at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, with the family greeting guests from 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Delbert's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 30, 2018) at the Westside Baptist Church in Hutchinson. Burial will follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Patriot Paws Service Dog Foundation in care of the funeral home at 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
