Deborah Ann Axilrod
AXILROD, Deborah Ann Deborah Ann Axilrod passed away peacefully December 24th with her children and brother at her side. She was born on March 28, 1958 in Trenton, New Jersey to Mary Ann and Donald Bartusis. Upon completing high school at the Hun School, Debbie attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in communications. After moving to Texas in 1982 she worked a number of years in the mortgage industry first at Savings of America and later for American Investment Mortgage. In 1986 she married Herbert D. Axilrod Jr., and together they raised two children making their home in Richardson, Texas. The couple divorced in 1994. Debbie was a loving mother and homemaker who was thrilled to support her children's many activities including soccer, scouting, track, dance, and band, as well as serving as a room mother. Before dedicating herself to her children's activities, she enjoyed skiing and sailing, competing in races on White Rock Lake and around the state. In 2006 after completing her teacher certification at UTD, Debbie began a second career in early childhood education, serving at Richardson Heights Elementary, TLC Learning Center, and Primrose School of Chase Oaks. She is survived by brother Joseph Bartusis (Jenn) of Brevard, North Carolina, sisters Monica Anderson of Salinas, California and Michelle Carter of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter Anne-Marie Fleming (Wendell) of Dripping Springs, Texas, son Timothy Axilrod of Dallas, and granddaughter Violet Ann Fleming also of Dripping Springs. Donations in memory of Debbie may be made to the SPCA of Texas
