In memory of
8/5/1940 - 5/2/2017 Ashland, Oregon - Dale Arlene Muir, 76 years young, died in her home in Ashland, OR, on May 02, 2017. An artist and humanitarian with kindness to all creatures great and small, Dale's death will leave gaping holes in many hearts. Born in San Diego to Doris (Martin) and Robert Oswalt, Dale was a leader and athlete, likely at first breath. College degrees from Graceland and the University of Michigan led her into early education and recreation programs including Head Start and YMCAs. She and her family eventually moved to Ann Arbor, MI where her true passions of art and antiques took hold. Retiring to beautiful Ashland, OR in 2006, brought new friendships and the glories of the Pacific Northwest. Assemblage art was her gift to the area and Dale was instrumental in the early success of the Ashland Art Center. Surviving Dale is her partner of 24 years, Vicki Gardner; children Kirsten, Jeff, Debra Anne and sister Diana; Terry and Donna Gardner; seven grandchilden and two great grandchildren. Special friends Vanessa and Elizabeth, Ann Arbor; Charlie and Nancy, Corren and Ronna of Ashland; Sheila Ryan, Oakland and Rheychol Paris, Yachats. And the beloved "Pack" whose love and friendship cannot be measured: Kathy Bates, Kay Hagen, Jasper Montgomery and Claire McKenzie. Many thanks and gratitude to Dr. Melissa Noble and the local Hospice staff, especially Katie O. and nurse Patty. Cremation has taken place with a private memorial service to follow. "Walk with me to the water, when it comes my time. What we say will not matter, just keep your hand in mine. I'll cross the water by myself, I know that's what I must do. But the chilling sting won't be felt, because I've walked with you."
