Charlotte Shamlin
Charlotte N. Shamlin, 98, passed away on November 8, 2018. Born Charlotte DeEtte Noddin, May 15, 1920, in Berkeley, Ca, she grew up in Northern Ca. She moved to Hawaii during WW II, where her daughters were born. She returned to Northern Ca with her family in 1949. In 1954 she moved to the South Bay area of LA County until she retired in 1982 as an executive secretary from the City of Torrance. She then moved to OC, continuing her interest in traveling. In 1981 she went from London to Hong Kong via trains in 46 days. Finland, Moscow, house-boating in Ecuador, camel-riding in Morocco, museums of London and Paris were some of the places she visited. If there was an interesting trip she could pack her bags in an hour. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her two daughters, Gay Zook of Fountain Valley, and Jill Jeffries of San Pedro. A memorial service will be held at Harbor Lawn Mt. Olive Mortuary in Costa Mesa on January 19th at 1:30pm. In lieu of flower make contributions to the Animal Assistance League of OC or the Santa Ana Zoo.
