Stevens, Charles Charles Erwin Stevens, age 91 of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Chuck was born in Grand Rapids, MI on May 14, 1928 and raised by his grandparents, Charles and Florence Muller. He graduated from Rockford High School and earned an associate degree from Davenport College. Chuck served for three years in U.S. Army Signal Corps at Fort Bragg in North Carolina and served in Okinawa where he was assigned to the code room. Chuck married Barbara Ammerman on September 5, 1953. Chuck liked to play cards and enjoyed doing lawn and garden work. He also loved to watch westerns and World War II movies. Chuck had a great sense of humor and kept the whole family laughing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Florence Muller; his father, Erwin Stevens; his mother, Loveda Alberta; his sisters, Joyce Meldrum and Delores Beckwith; and his brothers, Ronald Stevens and Jack Stevens. Chuck is survived by his wife of 66 years Barbara Stevens; his sons Jerry Stevens, Jamie Stevens, and Tom (Kathy) Stevens; his grandsons, Greg Stevens, Bill Stevens, and Scott Stevens; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carole and Jack Larink; and his nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Chuck's life will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Rockford United Methodist Church, 159 Maple St NE, Rockford, MI 49341. Pastor Jan Rogacki officiating. Military honors will take place at church at the conclusion of the funeral service. Burial will take place in Rockford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Rockford United Methodist Building Fund.
