WILLIAM BRIAN CANION
William Brian Canion, Bill, 80, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021. He was born on December 4, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas. Bill graduated from Alamo Heights High School and then from Southwest Texas. He served in the 25th Infantry Division Unit 1542 of the United States Army as a Lieutenant, while serving in Vietnam he received an Air Medal as well as a Bronze Star. Bill retired in 2005 after working for the Southern Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad for 46 years, he was elected and served as the local railroad union representative for many years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed exercise, adored his grandchildren, was a proud Texan, and loved riding dirt bikes. Bill's passion for dirt bikes extended to the Dirt Bikers Club of San Antonio, he served the club in many capacities for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Thomas Canion and his mother Ruth Hill Canion. Bill is survived by his daughters Carly Canion, Casey Canion, his son Brian Canion, daughter-in-law Evelyn Canion, his grandchildren Michael Ramos, Zoe Ramos, Sarah Canion, Clayton Canion and Carsyn Hedrick; his sister Barbara Petty, his brother-in-law Larry Petty and his niece Wendy Rahn. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North. A Service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Interment will be at Ft Sam Houston for family.
