Harold Simon
On April 9, 2021 Harold Simon passed away at the age of 89. He was a native San Antonian. After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1949, he obtained his degree in Architectural Engineering from Texas Tech University. Shortly after graduating, Hal joined the Air Force. After active duty, Hal joined the Air Force Reserves and retired as a Lt. Colonel. Hal also proudly served as a member of the Northside Optimist Club of S. A. where he could be found selling Christmas trees at their lot. Hal was the consummate model builder. He could build anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating in his younger years, and was an excellent marksman. Hal will always be remembered for his patience, his wonderful sense of humor, and his love for his family. He is predeceased by his parents, Ada Rice Simon and Harold M. Simon. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Joy Willett Simon; daughters, Debbie Godfrey and Linda Ertel (Chuck); and grandsons, Brandon Godfrey (Raidis), Logan Godfrey, and Conner Ertel. The service will be on Friday, May 14, 2021, 11:00 am at Porter Loring North. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation in Harold's name or a charity of your choice.
