Donald P. Gagne
Donald P. Gagne, 80, husband of the late Barbara Rae (McAdams) Gagne passed away Friday February 19, 2021 at the Mayaguez Medical Center in Puerto Rico. Born in Attleboro, MA, the eleventh of thirteen children to Cyrille & Yvonne Gagne, he is survived by his sister Elaine Cutler from Plainville, MA and brother Thomas Gagne of Florida and predeceased siblings, Mary Irene Woyton, Claire Jacobs, Alfred, Raymond, Edmond "Eddie", Ernest, Robert, Albert, Cyrille "Paul" and most recently John "Jack" Gagne. A graduate of Norton High School in 1959, Mr. Gagne served as a volunteer firefighter his senior year and joined the Army Reserve briefly before joining the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corps he toured Southwest Asia with the 3rd Marine Division stopping in Okinawa, Manila, Hong Kong, Zambles, Corregidor, and even climbed to the top of Mount Fuji while stationed in Japan. He later transferred to Quantico, VA where he served as a driver in the Motor Transport Platoon. A career tool and die maker, he worked for several well-known companies in the Attleboro area; B.B. Greenberg, Brown & Sharp, Metal Bellows and Hilsinger Corporation before venturing out with several of his brothers to start their own business in 1977. At Gagne Brothers, Incorporated, he employed hundreds of local residents and produced numerous types of stamped metal products to include the Kapture King fishing lure until retiring in 2004. A loving and supportive father, he is survived by his children; Peter & Kristina Gagne of Attleboro, MA, Gabrielle "Gigi" & David Staten of Dayton, TX, Ryan Gagne & Tina Dufresne of North Attleboro, MA, Marjorie & Neil Schmidt of Estero, FL and his grandchildren; Darienne Hartman, Justin and his wife Joy Hartman, Brianna & Haylee Schmidt, Riley, Harrison, Peighton, Raegan, Matthew, Joshua & Katie Gagne. Also survived by his former wife Linda (Murray) Gagne and the extended family of Linda's to include her four children, 22 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Known as Pépère to many more, he was always there to lend a hand, a shoulder to lean on or as a fan in the stands. He will be missed by numerous friends to include his golf buddies at The Sunset League at Heather Hill Country Club where he played for the last 30 years as well as, the members of the St. James Lodge of Freemasons in Mansfield, MA where he served numerous positions within the lodge to include Master Mason for six terms. A memorial service will be held in June, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests you to raise a glass and toast to this great man.
