Dolores Gibson
Dolores Gibson, 87 Cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Dolores Gibson, earned her wings on Monday, February 8, 2021 at her home in Humble, TX with one of her daughters by her side. Her sunrise was October 18, 1933 in Harlem Hospital as the first born of 13 children to Genie Rivers. After marrying Percy Gibson, they moved to Staten Island, NY to raise their three daughters. She started her career first at Willowbrook State School, then transferred to Manhattan State Insurance. From there, she continued her career with the State of New York, working at The Institute of Basic Research until retiring in 1996 with over 25 years of dedicated service. Dolores was a member of St. Phillips Baptist Church. When she left New York and moved to Texas, she became a member of Refugee Temple Ministry. Dolores favorite pastime was traveling to visit her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel and visit different places. She loved to cook and listening to music with family and friends. She would take her grandson's to baseball games and spend time shopping with her granddaughters. Dolores was predeceased by her husband and her daughter Deborah Enyosobi and 4 siblings. She is survived by her mother Genie Rivers, her daughters Yvonne Meaders and Lorraine Price; granddaughter Yvette Cress (Clifton); grandson's Ira Walker (Kim); Jamal Fuller and 4 great-grandchildren Keira Cress; Brent, Nia and Bryon Walker and 8 brothers and sisters. Dolores was a favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews as well as loved by many family and friends. She left us with loving memories of a strong role-model, a positive spirit with a caring heart. She will be missed so very much. A memorial service will be set at a later date. Cremation will take place at Allen's Mortuary- Houston, TX.
