Spencer Oates
Spencer Oates Prattville - Alton Spencer Oates went to his eternal home on January 10, 2021. Spencer is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rebecca Champion Oates and their son, Spence Oates. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law, Gwen and Steve Boyett, his sister, Denise Oates, his brother in law and sister in law, Nelson and Lisa Champion and his sister in law and brother in law, Mary Ann and Malcom McDonald, along with two nieces and five nephews. The family also recognizes Encompass Hospice, Shawn Hardaway, Darlene Harrison and Spencer's best friend, Anthony McGough. Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Knox Oates and Jackie Spencer Oates Hawkins. Spencer retired from the Prattville Water Works Board with whom he shared many great memories. He graduated from Autauga County High school with the class of 1970 and later graduated from Troy (State) University. A private graveside service will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Oakhill Cemetery with Wayne Lasiter, Allen Rawlinson, Adam Rawlinson, Michael Rawlinson, Herman Bates and Jacob Chavers serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will employees of the Prattville Water Works Board. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1674 Co. Road 40 W, Prattville, Al. 36067
