Robert Francis "Bob" Coyne
Robert "Bob" Francis Coyne Reno - Love of God, love of family, love of golf. Robert "Bob" Francis Coyne was born April 27th 1926 in Rochester, New York. The third child of nine to an Irish Catholic family, parents William John and Mary Louise Coyne, brothers Jack, Dick, Bill, Steve and sisters Shirley, Pat, Mary, and Linda. He entered into eternal life on December 27th 2020 the Feast of the Holy Family at the age of 94, joining his beloved wife and soulmate of 70 years Marie Monique "Mimi" Coyne. As part of "The Greatest Generation" in May 1943 he enlisted in the Navy at 17 years old serving as a landing craft operator. Upon return from war in March 1946 he met and married Mimi, quickly starting a family in Santa Monica, California. Raising their four children Patrick, Mark, Joseph, and Minette, a blue collar roofing family, Bob compiled an exceptional record of roofing accomplishments. In 1973 Bob ventured into his own business (Alpine Roofing) with his three sons and brother, Steve in South Lake Tahoe, California. To accommodate the growth of the business they moved to Reno, Nevada. With hard work, determination and a reputation for quality and craftsmanship Alpine Roofing flourished. A family owned and operated business, Bob's legacy and measures for success continue to be passed down through the generations. Developing a love for golf at a young age working as a caddie at Brentwood Country Club in Los Angeles, California, he carried the passion throughout his life and was a longtime member of the Hidden Valley Country Club in Reno, Nevada. In retirement, as part of his successes he was able to build the home of his dreams, a whimsical Irish cottage. Aside from golf, he embraced his inventive nature with unique landscaping and tree shaping around the grounds of his estate and always welcomed family and visitors. A charismatic and creative man that will be greatly missed. As patriarch of a large devout Irish Catholic family he remained steadfast in his faith and prayed daily. Bob is survived by his brother Steve, sister Linda, children Patrick, Mark, Joseph and Minette, and over 101 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. "May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rain fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand." ~An Irish Blessing~
