ROBERT STRAUSS
  Robert Strauss   Born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1927, passed away on the evening of November 25, 2020 at his home in McLean, Virginia at the age of 93. At the height of his career, Mr. Strauss was Director of Reliability and Standards for COMSAT. His specialty was microwave amplification transmission and linearizing power systems including photovoltaics. He was instrumental in the develop of Early Bird. Following retirement from INTELSAT, Mr. Strauss worked 27 years as a consultant in communications satellites: Users and builders of space craft, earth stations, critical failure analysis and power microwave amplifiers. He also served as technical adviser in the establishment of SIRRUS Radio. He received degrees in engineering from Cornell University and MSEE from Lehigh University. He worked as Department Head of Traveling Wave Tube development at Sperry Rand and device development at Bell Laboratories. He is survived by his children, Stephen Elliot Strauss, Susan Elisabeth Strauss and Diane Elise Strauss; and two grandchildren Geneva and Lukas Strauss-Wise. No services are planned at this time.
